I’m always scouting locations and can find a great place to photograph a session just about anywhere. Sometimes, you have to squint to see the potential! The location itself doesn’t have to be perfect—just the vision. Whether you’re looking for a family session, a high school senior session, a headshot, or something completely unique, the right setting can make all the difference.
So here are five of my favorite locations for stunning portraits!
1. The Woodlands Waterway
The Woodlands Waterway offers the perfect blend of urban and natural scenery. With its scenic waterfront, cute bridges, and modern architecture, this location provides a ton of backdrops for portraits. It’s especially great for high school seniors, couples, and family sessions who want a mix of nature and city looks.
For the best experience, I recommend scheduling sessions on a weekday morning or afternoon (excluding the holiday season) when the area is quieter—you’ll practically have the place to yourself!

2. Downtown Cleveland, Texas
For those who love a rustic, small-town aesthetic, Downtown Cleveland really is a hidden gem. The brick buildings, vintage storefronts, and colorful murals add character to any portrait.
I love shooting here because it offers a variety of backgrounds in a small area—no long walks needed to get multiple looks! Plus, it’s only about 15 minutes from my studio, making it super convenient.

3. Lake Houston Wilderness Park
If you love the outdoors, Lake Houston Wilderness Park is a dream location. The park has miles of trees, a white sand creek, and scenic walking paths—it’s the perfect spot for all nature lovers.
This location works well for almost any type of family, couples, seniors, and even maternity sessions. With so much open space, we can find the perfect spot to create beautiful portraits.

4. Huntsville, Texas (Sam Houston Park, SHSU, & Downtown)
Huntsville is full of history, charm, and variety, making it a favorite location for photos. Whether you want something historic, collegiate, or small-town cute, this town has it all:
- Sam Houston Park – A historic site featuring log cabins, gardens, and rustic charm, perfect for portraits.
- Sam Houston State University (SHSU) – Alumni, current students, or students-to-be will love the beautiful architecture, tree-lined walkways, and iconic landmarks.
- Downtown Huntsville – Brick streets, quaint little shops, and a small-town feel create a unique mix of urban and historic vibes.

5. Sheila Hebert Photography Studio & Portrait Park
Of course, I had to include my own private Portrait Park and indoor studio! Here, you never have to worry about crowds (unless you count the squirrels and deer). Our 14 acres is filled with both natural and styled areas, giving you plenty of looks to choose from without ever leaving the property.
And let’s not forget the indoor studio, where I have 100% control over the lighting and the weather. Whether you’re looking for an outdoor, natural setting, a controlled indoor environment, or both—I have it all!

Each of these locations has something unique to offer, whether you love nature, urban scenery, or a little of both. If you’re unsure which location would work best for your session, let’s chat! I can help guide you based on your vision and what will make your photos truly stand out.
